Signs of the zombie apocalypse
This week, I was fortunate enough to see advance screenings of two upcoming zombie films, both with the filmmakers in attendance: “Zombieland” and the reboot of “The Crazies.” Both were awesome, taking the Infected Zombie genre to new levels. More high-profile zombie films are on the horizon as well, including George A. Romero’s “Survival of the Dead” (which screened at the Toronto and Venice Film Festivals) and the much-anticipated film adaptation of Max Brooks’ “World War Z,” the screenplay for which was reviewed by Ain’t It Cool News, who reported: “it’s a genre-defining piece of work that could well see us all arguing about whether or not a zombie movie qualifies as ‘Best Picture’ material.”
We’ve clearly entered an exciting new era for zombie cinema, one that “Bad Batch” will benefit from and contribute to. ~FM
